Affiliate Marketing
This
technique is as old as the Hills. And like the Hills, it still
works....sometimes. The principle is based on the commission-salesman
model. Other site owners actually become the sales men and women.
They sign up to be an affiliate partner with you. This is usually
done via a rather sophisticated program.
The
general idea centers around paying site owners for sending their
traffic your way. Some sites pay their affiliates if they send
traffic, some pay when the visitor actually purchases something.
The
first trick here is to get high-traffic sites as Affiliates. The
second is to be sure you have the technology in place to track
the commissions to the rightful owners. It is important each affiliate
gets paid. They also should be able to check their accounts 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
Amazon.com
was the pioneer of Online Affiliate Marketing. Their tracking
software is nothing less than awe inspiring. Fortunately, smaller
sites don't need that level of sophistication. There are a number
of software packages out there that will do the work for you.
Also, there are a few Affiliate Marketing portals that bring those
in need of affiliates together with those looking to affiliate.
One of the more popular affiliate program trackers for information
products and software is called http://www.clickbank.com.
All you have to do is sign up to be a seller of a product, tell
clickbank how much you will pay others to sell your product for
you, and they handle everything. They will track your sales, pay
your affiliates, everything. I think they charge a $49 setup fee
and their commissions are a little higher than other credit card
processors ($1.00 per transaction plus $7.5%), but the results
you can get from using them far outweigh the costs.
